Grab''s ride-sharing service, GrabShare will be available across Singapore from tomorrow (Mar. 13).

5pm to 11pm pickups

The service is still on a trial basis (Grabshare BETA).

Previously, passengers can only be picked up from Downtown Core, Outram, River Valley, Singapore River, Marina Bay, One-North and Buona Vista.

And from Mar. 9, passengers can also get picked up from Changi Airport terminals 2 and 3.

Each passenger from the airport is only able to bring onboard a maximum of one 27” luggage (69x47x35.5cm), to ensure sufficient luggage space for the other passenger.

GrabShare BETA will also be available islandwide from 5 pm to 11 pm daily, from Mar. 13.

Morning pickups in heartland areas

The service also expanded to 7 am to 10 am pickups from these selected heartland areas:

  • Punggol
  • Seng Kang
  • Hougang
  • Woodlands
  • Sembawang
  • Yishun
  • Choa Chu Kang
  • Bukit Panjang
  • Bukit Batok

How does GrabShare work?

A ride will only be confirmed after two passengers are matched to remove the possibility of unexpected pick-ups and give riders and drivers clear routes and arrival times.

Grab advises passengers to allow a waiting time of up to seven minutes after booking to confirm a ride.

Once confirmed, there is a three-minute waiting period and passengers will be charged a cancellation fee if they cancel on the allocated driver.

Only one passenger is allowed per booking and there will be a maximum of two passengers per shared ride – this means you can only book a pooled ride if you''re travelling alone.

According to an FAQ on Grab''s website, if you happen to try your luck and turn up with an additional person, drivers will request that you cancel the GrabShare Beta ride and book a regular Grab ride instead.
